“At this point, our mood is unanimously united and empowered,” said Christina Smith, principal flautist and a member of ASOPA’s negotiating committee. According to Smith, musicians felt compelled to take a stand after enduring heavy cuts in 2012, which they understood as a one-time concession. “The orchestra will not stand to be marginalized anymore.”
